A Schoolboy’s Agony to claim his right to education

After a long drawn-out battle, the six-year-old boy who was refused school admission because he was thought to be HIV positive was admitted to a school in Kuliyapitiya following top political orders.

But the battle is far from over for the youngster.

Parents at the school he was admitted to prevented their children from attending, isolating the child in his Grade One Class. Now, school authorities have asked the mother – a single parent – to keep her son away from school until the matter is discussed with the protesting parents. READ MORE
